COVID-19: Latest Numbers Around Our Organization

At St. Joseph’s, we are continuing to see an increase in COVID-19 positive patients on both our Paterson and Wayne campuses. However, unlike in the spring, the majority of patients are not critically ill. At this point, they are typically hospitalized in our med/surg units for about five days. A surge plan to open additional units has been developed should patient cases exceed current capacity.

Here are the most up-to-date numbers throughout the organization:

  • 98 COVID-19 positive hospitalized patients, representing 20 percent of total hospitalizations
    • 79 are currently at SJUMC
    • 19 in SJWMC
    • 0 in SJHRC
  • 13 COVID patients are in Critical Care; 5 are on ventilators
  • Positivity rate is about 19% on a rolling average
