COVID-19 Policies & Procedures Updates:

Employee Health Services

  • All patient-facing personnel should be wearing N95 masks and eye protection. A new N95 mask is now being utilized and staff need to be fit-tested before using this new model.  Onsite fit-testing is available in Wayne and Paterson. Click here to view the fit testing schedule.  Reminder that proper fit and effectiveness of N95 requires absence of facial hair – for both fit-testing and usage of N95 masks.
  • Due to the level of community spread of this virus, we will no longer be conducting employee contact tracing when SJH employees have a positive test result.  We will continue to send an alert to members of the department and ask employees to be vigilant in their self-monitoring for symptoms, and to contact Employee Health Services if symptoms develop.

Labor Pool & Workforce Support

  • Due to the number of employees ill this week, we ask that all employees who are available for redeployment, contact their manager/director to participate in the labor pool. Your co-workers could really use help, especially on evenings and weekends.  Pay practices for redeployed staff are the same as if they are working in their usual role.  Salaried staff will be paid their salary; hourly staff will be paid hourly rate (including over time as appropriate.)
  • Free restaurant meals are available  (for staff and their families) for staff to pick-up on Wednesday and Thursday evenings – from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the Paterson cafeteria and 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Wayne and Cedar Grove cafeterias.

Blood Donations Needed

  • There is currently a national/regional blood shortage – which in turn is impacting blood supplies at St. Joseph’s Health facilities.  We encourage all employees to donate blood at your local blood center – when possible.  (Please note that SJH does not perform blood donations at either Paterson or Wayne.)  While donations made to areas blood centers may not be directed specifically to St. Joseph’s Health, increasing the blood supply overall will benefit many. See below for information on local blood centers.

Storm Prep for Friday

  • We are currently monitoring a developing snow event forecasted for Thursday night/Friday morning across the northeast.  Please plan ahead and make preparations accordingly.  More information on the forecast and storm will be distributed throughout day on Thursday.

Thank you for your continued support and assistance.
