Facility Alert- Potential Weekend Winter Storm

National Weather Service is tracking winter storm Izzy for Sunday into Monday.   At this time, the forecast is still variable but calling for a wintry mix of snow, sleet and rain over the course of the storm.  Snow accumulations will depend on the track of the storm but expected to be between 2”-4”.  We will continue to monitor for changes over the weekend.

Timing – Snow likely before 1am Sunday, then changing to rain and a mix of snow and sleet from 1am-4am, then changing over to rain.  Temperatures will be between 35-40 degrees. Rain and snow mix will continue throughout the early part of the day Monday.  At this time, it is possible for 2”-4” of snow possible for NYC/NJ Metro area.  A shift in the track of storm could lead to higher snow totals.

SJ Operation Planning:

  1. Team is working to have overnight sleeping accommodations for staff who wish to stay over.  Manager or designee must call patient logistics (x2244 or x2201) (Wayne and Paterson)
  2. Staff within a 5-mile radius of the hospital can request a pick-up by calling the nursing office Paterson 973-754-3085 or Wayne 973-956-3667, if weather permits.  We are encouraging staff to get to work early or stay overnight. (Paterson/Wayne) 
  3. Facilities/Maintenance are prepared and have outside resources supporting our fleet.

Please plan for extra travel time on Monday morning in light of the impending storm.
