As you are aware, St. Joseph’s continues to be impacted by the ransomware attack sustained by UKG and, specifically, to the UKG Workforce Central (Kronos) time and attendance system. UKG has reported this activity to the FBI and other law enforcement agencies, and has engaged a number of respected cyber security firms to assist them with forensics, system mitigation, and repair. At this time, UKG has not determined root cause and continue to investigate whether personal information was removed from the impacted systems. They anticipate that it will take several weeks to restore all customers safely and accurately.
Fortunately, our UKG payroll system is unaffected, allowing us to continue to process payroll and deliver paychecks to all employees. However, our method to collect time and attendance is inoperable for the unforeseeable future. To address the impact of this extended outage, St. Joseph’s has built our own temporary time tracking system that will be rolled out today, Wednesday, December 22, 2021, to allow remote office employees and those without access to a clock to punch in and out. The system also gives timekeepers/managers the ability to make changes and insert appropriate pay codes (BTB, etc.).
A few items to note regarding the temporary tracking system:
- Employees who regularly punch in by using a Kronos time clock must continue to do so.
- Educational materials for timekeepers/managers to use this downtime system will be available shortly (employee Downtime Punch tip sheet attached), and we have scheduled several webinars (listed below) for timekeepers on Wednesday, December 22nd and on Thursday, December 23rd.
- Please send any questions to timekeeper@sjhmc.org.
- Tip sheets and tutorial videos for employees and timekeepers will be provided later today.

The complexity of our payroll system is extensive, and we appreciate your patience as we work through this issue. To ensure that we continue to issue paychecks and direct deposit transactions as scheduled, all time keeping must be completed by 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 27, 2021. We want to ensure that all employees receive paychecks, and some time may need to be entered from schedules. Please make sure that you review your paycheck for accuracy and contact your supervisor immediately to complete an adjustment form for any discrepancies.
We sincerely apologize for this terrible issue at this critical time of year, and are doing everything we can to ensure that our employees are compensated in a timely and accurate manner. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation.
