Nor’easter Forecasted for Our Region: Plans Underway for SJH Operations

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Warning as of 5:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, January 31, 2021, for the approaching Nor’easter snow storm.  This storm looks to be a major and prolonged Nor’easter storm for our region. There’s a potential for 12”-18” over the duration of the storm.

This report is as 7:30am today.  The storm will look like a blizzard at times with high wind gusts and blowing snow.  Some power outages are possible.

Timing – Late afternoon Sunday through Tuesday morning

At this time, it is possible for 2”-5” of snow possible by the Monday morning commute for NYC/NJ Metro area and then we will expect to see 1”-3” of snow per hour throughout the day into evening.  Snow will reduce Monday night, but will linger through Tuesday morning with additional accumulation possible

Operations at St. Joseph’s Health:

  • Team is working to have overnight sleeping accommodations for staff (x2244 or x2201)
  • Process for staff pick-ups (x3085) if weather permits.  Please encourage staff to get to work early and stay overnight on the SJUMC, SJWMC and SJHRC campuses.
