Schedule Updates for COVID-19 Vaccinations

Since we began distribution on Friday, December 18, nearly 2,000 frontline clinical and support employees have been vaccinated in what we’re all calling a “shot of hope.” We are pleased to open vaccination to all departments that were categorized as 1A, even if the department was originally scheduled for Week 2.

COVID-19 Vaccine Arrives at St. Joseph’s: Vaccinations Start on Friday, December 18

The much-anticipated COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine has arrived at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center.

Vaccination for those clinical and support departments that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has categorized as 1A (patient and public-facing employees) will begin at Noon on Friday, December 18th, on both campuses. After December 18, vaccination will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. in the Auditoriums in Paterson and 3AB in Wayne.

St. Joseph’s to Begin Phased Distribution of the COVID-19 Vaccine

St. Joseph’s is anticipating arrival of the first doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine later this week. Because initial supplies of the vaccine provided to New Jersey hospitals will be limited, there will be a Phased Distribution process among staff, beginning with clinical and support team members who have Direct Patient and Public-Facing Interactions. With the number of vaccines we expect to receive, we believe we will have sufficient supply to vaccinate all in this category over the course of the first few weeks.

St. Joseph’s to Begin COVID-19 Vaccinations

We are pleased to announce that St. Joseph’s Health is preparing for the anticipated arrival of the first doses of a COVID-19 vaccine (within the next 7 days) that will provide dramatic assistance in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

As you know, the vaccine addresses two critical issues; first, it will help reduce the likelihood of getting severely-ill and needing to be admitted to the hospital, and second, it will also help to prevent continued wide-spread infection and therefore interrupt disease transmission.
