Flood Watch Issued for Paterson & Wayne – Monday, July 14, 2025

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Watch for Passaic County, including the St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson and St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center, in effect from 2:00 PM through this evening.

What to Expect:

  • Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon into the evening.
  • Rainfall rates may exceed 2 inches per hour, with 1–3 inches of rain expected, and up to 5 inches possible in localized areas.
  • Flash flooding may occur in urban areas, low-lying locations, and poor drainage zones, including hospital access routes and parking areas.

Impacted Areas:

  • Eastern and Western Passaic County (Paterson and Wayne campuses)
  • Surrounding areas including Essex, Bergen, Union, and Hudson Counties

Staff Reminders:

  • Monitor for additional alerts and be prepared to take action if Flood Warnings are issued.
  • Report any flooding conditions affecting hospital access, roadways, or critical infrastructure to Facilities and Security.
  • Exercise caution when commuting. Do not attempt to drive through flooded roads.
