IMPORTANT COVID-19 CLINICAL POLICY UPDATE

*Please note that the reinstated policy for COVID PCR testing (for pre-procedural/pre-operative/and direct admit) will go into effect on August 6, 2021 at 7:00 a.m.

Currently SJH has not experienced any rapid increases in the number of Covid-19 inpatients. Unfortunately, the surrounding regions of Bergen and Essex counties are seeing an increase, and we expect the same here in Passaic. These increasing numbers are attributable to the Delta variant and the spread especially among the unvaccinated population. In order to maintain the health and safety of our patients, we are reinstating the pre-procedural/pre-operative /direct admit policy of COVID PCR testing.

This requires all elective procedures/surgery in the outpatient setting to have a documented, negative COVID -19 PCR test, not more than 96 hours pre-procedure. This testing is required of all patients regardless of vaccine status or previous infection status.

Also, all emergency admissions shall be PCR tested prior to admission to the respective unit of hospital and direct admissions to any unit of the hospital is now rescinded until further notice.

NON-PATIENT FACING EMPLOYEE AREAS (OFF-SITE OF ACUTE CARE/LONG TERM CARE FACILITIES)

Upon guidance of the Centers for Disease Control, all employees in non-clinical facilities should now wear masks regardless of vaccination status, until further notice. This is due to breakthrough cases of vaccinated individuals who generally do not become ill, but may transmit to the vulnerable unvaccinated employees.

Thank you all for your continued cooperation.
